Owning Palette: Data Communication VIs and Functions
Requires: DSC Module or Real-Time Module. This topic might not match its corresponding palette in LabVIEW depending on your operating system, licensed product(s), and target.
Use the EPICS VIs to exchange data between applications through the EPICS communication protocols.
|Note The Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) is a set of open-source software tools you can use to develop large, distributed control systems. EPICS also refers to the architecture of such systems, as well as to the collaboration group developing the related tools. Refer to the Argonne National Laboratory Web site at www.aps.anl.gov/epics for more information about EPICS and to download the latest version of EPICS.|
Windows and Real-Time targets support the EPICS VIs. The following table shows the support for deploying the EPICS Server I/O server and the EPICS Client I/O server based on the platform you run the EPICS VIs. The indicates that you can deploy the EPICS Server I/O server and the EPICS Client I/O server in that location.
|Deployment from...||Deployment to localhost||Deployment to Remote Real-Time Targets||Deployment to Remote Windows Targets|
|EPICS Client VIs||Use the EPICS Client VIs to create, deploy, and undeploy EPICS Client I/O servers. You can add, remove, and list records on an EPICS Client I/O server. You also can add, remove, list, and get attributes of fields on an EPICS Client I/O server.|
|EPICS Server VIs||Use the EPICS Server VIs to create, deploy, and undeploy EPICS Server I/O servers. You also can create, delete, list, and get attributes of process variables (PV) in an EPICS Server I/O server.|
