Configuring the Target Settings (Blackfin, Embedded Module)

Configure the target settings to define and configure the VisualDSP++ target platform so LabVIEW can communicate with the Blackfin target. You use the VisualDSP++ Target Configuration dialog box to configure the target settings. You have to configure the Blackfin target only once unless you change how you connect the target to the host computer.

Note  Because all Blackfin targets share the same target configuration settings, LabVIEW does not support multiple Blackfin targets in a project.

Complete the following steps to configure the target settings.

  1. Right-click a Blackfin target in the Project Explorer window and select Configure Target from the shortcut menu to open the VisualDSP++ Target Configuration dialog box.
  2. Select the version of VisualDSP++ you are using with the Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors from the Product name pull-down menu on the Target Settings tab.

Note  Only versions of VisualDSP++ with the correct update appear in the Product name pull-down menu. Refer to the Getting Started with the NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ADI Blackfin Processors for information about installing VisualDSP++ to use with LabVIEW.
  3. Verify the location of VisualDSP++ on the host computer in the Location text box.

Tip  Verify the version of VisualDSP++ in the Product name pull-down menu is correct if the location is not correct.
  4. Select a target from the Debug target pull-down menu. The Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors includes the EZ-KIT debug targets. Use the VisualDSP++ Configurator if you need to define additional debug targets.
  5. Select a platform from the Platform pull-down menu. The platform specifies the configuration of processors with which the Blackfin target communicates. The Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors includes the EZ-KIT debug platforms. Use the VisualDSP++ Configurator if you need to define additional platforms.
  6. Select a processor from the Processor pull-down menu. The processor specifies the processor type that you want to connect to in the selected platform. The Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors includes the EZ-KIT processors. Use the VisualDSP++ Configurator if you need to define additional processors.
  7. (Optional) Click the Configure button to open the VisualDSP++ Configurator. Use the VisualDSP++ Configurator if you need to define additional debug targets, platforms, or processors.
  8. Click the Debug Options tab to configure the debug options.
  9. Click the OK button.
