Creating a Project Using the New Blackfin Project Wizard (Blackfin, Embedded Module)

Complete the following steps to use the New Blackfin Project Wizard to create a new Blackfin project.

  1. From the Getting Started window, select Blackfin Project under the Targets pull-down menu.
  2. Click the Go button to open the New Blackfin Project Wizard.
Tip  You also can click New to open the New dialog box. Then select Blackfin Project under Project»Project from Wizard and click the OK button to open the New Blackfin Project Wizard.
  1. Define the project information.
    1. Select the type of project you are creating from the Project type pull-down menu. You can create a project with a blank VI or you can use an existing VI.
    2. Browse to and select the path to the Blackfin VI you want to use in the project if you want to create a project with an existing VI.
  2. Click the Next button.
  3. Select a Blackfin target from the Target type pull-down menu.
  4. Click the Next button. A preview of how the Blackfin target and the project will look in the Project Explorer window appears.
  5. (Optional) Place a checkmark in the Create a build specification checkbox if you want to immediately create a build specification. LabVIEW prompts you to save the project and VI if you choose to create a build specification immediately.
  6. Click the Finish button.
  7. (Optional) Save the project and VI when LabVIEW prompts you.
Note Note  Consider the length of the file paths when you save the project and VI. The file path of the Blackfin application you build must be 256 characters or less.

The project now appears in the Project Explorer window. Expand the Blackfin target to see the items automatically added to the Blackfin target.

Tip Tip  You might want to check the configuration of the build specification that the wizard creates and make changes if necessary. For example, you might need to change the silicon revision on the Processor tab to match the Blackfin device.
Note Note  You need to configure the Blackfin target before you can build the Blackfin application. You only need to configure the Blackfin target once unless you change how you connect the target to the host computer.
