Testing a Blackfin Target (Blackfin, Embedded Module)

After you configure the Blackfin target, you can test the target using the ICE (In Circuit Emulator) Test utility. Click the Test button in the VisualDSP++ Configurator dialog box to launch the ICE Test utility.

Note  The appearance of the ICE Test utility can vary slightly depending on which emulator you use.

You must specify the emulator options, such as type and base address, before you can run the test. You can specify the emulator options automatically or manually.

Automatically Specifying the Emulator Options

Complete the following steps to automatically specify the emulator options.

  1. Click the Browse button next to the Type drop-down list to automatically detect connected emulators. If the ICE Test utility detects any emulators, the Detected Emulators dialog box lists the detected emulators and corresponding addresses.
  2. Select the emulator you are using and click the OK button to copy the applicable information to the ICE Test utility.

Manually Specifying the Emulator Options

Complete the following steps to manually specify the emulator options.

Note  The options in the ICE Test utility are emulator-specific.
  1. Select the emulator type from the Type drop-down list.
  2. Specify the address in hexadecimal format.
  3. Place a checkmark in the Continuous scan checkbox if you want to scan continuously until you click the Stop button.

Running the Tests

After you configure the emulator options, click the Start button to start the tests. Assuming you do not encounter any errors, the ICE Test utility runs each test. The Status area shows the test results as the tests run. If you select to scan continuously, the tests run until you click the Stop button.

Resolving Errors

The ICE Test utility immediately reports any errors at the bottom of the utility and ends the test. Most error messages recommend how to resolve the error.
