Using the Run Button with Blackfin VIs (Blackfin, Embedded Module)

Running a VI executes the operation for which you designed the Blackfin VI. You can run a VI if the Run button on the toolbar appears as a solid white arrow, shown as follows.

The behavior of the Run button in Blackfin VIs differs from LabVIEW for Windows. You must specify a default Blackfin target build specification by right-clicking a build specification in the Project Explorer window and selecting Set as Default from the shortcut menu to use the Run button with Blackfin VIs.

Tip  You also can deploy and run a Blackfin application from the Project Explorer window.

If You Want to Build, Deploy, and Run

Click the Run button in a Blackfin VI to build the Blackfin VI into a Blackfin application, deploy the Blackfin application to the Blackfin target, and run the Blackfin application on the Blackfin target. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification for the Blackfin VI.

If You Want to Build without Deploying or Running

Press the <Ctrl> key while you click the Run button to build the Blackfin VI into a Blackfin application without deploying or running the Blackfin application. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification for the Blackfin VI.

If You Want to Start a Debugging Session

Click the Pause button, shown as follows, and then click the Run button to start a debugging session. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification for the Blackfin VI.
