Converting Databases

  This function is hidden when the simplified version option is selected.

If you are a user of an earlier version of Multisim, your User Database and Corporate Database must be converted to Multisim 14 format if you wish to use their components in Multisim 14.

  The option to convert the Master Database is not available, as a new Master Database is loaded when you install Multisim.

Complete the following steps to update your databases:

  1. Select Tools»Database»Convert database. The Convert Database dialog box appears.
  2. In the Type drop-down list select one of:
    • Convert Database V13 ==> V14—Converts V13 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V12 ==> V14—Converts V12 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V11 ==> V14—Converts V11 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V10 ==> V14—Converts V10 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V8/V9 ==> V14—Converts V8 or V9 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V7 ==> V14—Converts V7 components to V14 format.
    • Convert Database V6 ==> V14—Converts V6 (Multisim 2001) components to V14 format.
  3. Click Select Source Database Names. The Select Source Database Names dialog box displays.
  4. Select the type of database that you wish to convert from the Files of type drop-down list:
    • User—User database.
    • Corporate—Corporate database.
  5. Navigate to the desired database file (the one you wish to convert) and click Open.
  6. You are returned to the Convert Database dialog box.

      If you are unsure of the location of the database, look in the Paths tab of the Global Options dialog box, under Database files.

  7. Click Start.
  8. The Duplicate Component Name dialog box displays.

  9. Select one of the following options:
    • Auto-Rename—Import and automatically rename the duplicate components.
    • Overwrite—Replace the Multisim components with the older components.
    • Ignore—Do not import components with duplicate names.
  10. Click OK.
  11. The database is converted.

    The converted Corporate database or User database is saved to the location specified in the Paths tab of the Global Options dialog box.
