Octave Analysis VIs

Owning Palette: Sound and Vibration VIs

Installed With: Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. This topic might not match its corresponding palette in LabVIEW depending on your operating system, licensed product(s), and target.

Use the Octave Analysis VIs to perform octave analysis, third-octave analysis, and fractional-octave analysis, including 1/1, 1/3, 1/6, 1/12, and 1/24 octave.

The VIs on this palette can return ranges of LabVIEW error codes or specific sound and vibration error codes.

When combined with any National Instruments DSA device, the Octave Analysis VIs offer compliance with the following standards:

  • ANSI S1.11-2004, class 1
  • IEC 1260:1995, class 1

Refer to the examples\Sound and Vibration directory for examples of using the Octave Analysis VIs.

Palette ObjectDescription
Octave AnalysisPerforms fractional-octave analysis, including 1/1, 1/3, 1/6, 1/12, and 1/24 octave for a single channel or N channels. You also can apply A-, B-, or C-weighting to the octave spectrum.
SVT Fractional-octave AnalysisPerforms a fractional-octave analysis on scaled signal [EU] in accordance with the IEC 1260:1995 and ANSI S1.11-2004 standards. The data type you wire to the scaled signal [EU] input determines the polymorphic instance to use.
SVT Octave AnalysisPerforms an octave analysis on scaled signal [EU] in accordance with the IEC 1260:1995 and ANSI S1.11-2004 standards. The data type you wire to the scaled signal [EU] input determines the polymorphic instance to use.
SVT Third-octave AnalysisPerforms a third-octave analysis on scaled signal [EU] in accordance with the IEC 1260:1995 and ANSI S1.11-2004 standards. The data type you wire to the scaled signal [EU] input determines the polymorphic instance to use.

SubpaletteDescription
ANSI VIsThe ANSI VIs are available for compatibility with previous versions of the LabVIEW Sound and Vibration Toolkit. The ANSI VIs offer compliance with the old ANSI S1.11-1986 standard. This standard has been superseded by the new ANSI S1.11-2004 standard. If you want to ensure compliance with this new standard, use the Octave Analysis VIs instead. When combined with any National Instruments DSA device, the ANSI VIs offer compliance with the ANSI S1.11-1986, Order 3, Type 1-D, optional range standard.
Octave Extended Measurements VIsUse the Octave Extended Measurements VIs to apply weighting to previously computed octave spectra, to generate a table based on the results of a fractional-octave analysis, or to extract a value or subset from an octave spectra.
