Running a VI executes the application. You can run a VI if the Run button on the toolbar appears as a solid white arrow, shown as follows.

The behavior of the Run button in Touch Panel VIs differs from VIs you run on Windows.

If You Want to Build, Deploy, and Run

Click the Run button in a Touch Panel VI to build the VI into an application, deploy the application to the Touch Panel target, and run the application on the target. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification.

Tip  You also can deploy an application from the Project Explorer window.

If You Want to Build without Deploying or Running

Press the <Ctrl> key while you click the Run button to build the Touch Panel VI into an application without deploying or running the application. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification.

If You Want to Start a Debugging Session

Click the Pause button, shown as follows, and then click the Run button to start a debugging session. LabVIEW prompts you to create a build specification if you do not have an existing build specification.
