Use shared variables to share data among VIs in the same Touch Panel application or to read data from and write data to other network-published shared variables. The DSC Module or Touch Panel Module supports single-process shared variables and network-published shared variables.

Single-Process Shared Variables

Use single-process shared variables when you want to transfer data within the same Touch Panel application. Using a single-process shared variable on a Touch Panel target is the same as using a single-process shared variable in VIs you run on Windows.

Network-Published Shared Variables

Use network-published shared variables in a Touch Panel application to read data from and write data to other network-published shared variables using the NI Publish-Subscribe Protocol (NI-PSP). You can use network-published shared variables in a Touch Panel VI to read from and write to other shared variables on other types of targets.

Use network-published shared variables in a similar way as using shared variables in stand-alone applications for targets running Windows.
