Before you can use the Serial Compatibility VIs with an x86 POCKET PC 2003 Emulator, you must configure the emulator for serial access. Complete the following steps to configure serial port access for the x86 emulators for Pocket PC 2003 that eMbedded Visual Tools enable.
- Right-click the POCKET PC 2003 Emulator in the Project Explorer window and select Properties from the shortcut menu.
- Click the Launch Windows CE Platform Manager Configuration button to launch the Windows CE Platform Manager.
- Double-click POCKET PC 2003 Emulator to open the Device Properties dialog box.
- In the Device Properties dialog box, click the Configure button to the right of the Startup Server pull-down menu. The Emulation Configuration Settings dialog box appears.
- Select the COM port you are using in the Serial Port 2 pull-down menu in the Communication section of the Emulation Configuration Settings dialog box.
 | Note Do not set Serial Port 2 to use the same port as ActiveSync, which typically uses COM 1, or any other process. The x86 Pocket PC 2003 emulator cannot share a serial port with other processes. |
- Click the OK button to save the changes and exit the Emulation Configuration Settings dialog box.
- Click the OK button to save the changes and exit the Device Properties dialog box.
- Click the OK button to save the changes and exit the Windows CE Platform Manager Configuration dialog box.
