This CLIP provides access to thirty-two 16-bit analog output channels, eight bidirectional DIO channels, four bidirectional PFI channels, and one bidirectional trigger line.

The following table describes the NI 5742 CLIP I/O signals.

CLIP Signal Name Data Type Control/Indicator Description
DAC Clock Clock Control This clock drives the SPI outputs to the DACs (digital-to-analog converters). All AO signals must be used in this clock domain. Valid frequencies are between 1 MHz and 50 MHz.
Clock 40 MHz Clock Control Frequency: 40 MHz
Ch 7-0 Bipolar Enable Bool Control When this signal is disabled, the DAC channels 7 to 0 output between 0 V and 5 V.
When this signal is enabled, the DAC channels 7 to 0 output between -2.5  V and 2.5 V.
Ch 15-8 Bipolar Enable Bool Control When this signal is disabled, the DAC channels 15 to 8 output between 0 V and 5 V.
When this signal is enabled, the DAC channels 15 to 8 output between -2.5  V and 2.5 V.
Ch 23-16 Bipolar Enable Bool Control When this signal is disabled, the DAC channels 23 to 16 output between 0 V and 5 V.
When this signal is enabled, the DAC channels 15 to 8 output between -2.5  V and 2.5 V.
Ch 31-24 Bipolar Enable Bool Control When this signal is disabled, the DAC channels 31 to 24 output between 0 V and 5 V.
When this signal is enabled, the DAC channels 15 to 8 output between -2.5  V and 2.5 V.
Initialization Done Bool Indicator A TRUE value indicates that the device has finished its configuration and you can output samples.
AO n U16 Control Specifies the value to send to the DAC.
With bipolar mode disabled, 0x0000 = 0V and 0xFFFF = 5V.
With bipolar mode enabled, 0x0000 = -2.5V and 0xFFFF = 2.5V
AO n Commit Bool Control Starts the SPI transfer to write the value in AO n to the DAC. You can set this signal only when Initialization Done is true and AO n Ready is true.
AO n Ready Bool Indicator Indicates whether the AO n pin is ready to send analog output data.
Trigger Rd Data Bool Indicator Reads data from the trigger connector.
Trigger Wr Data Bool Control Writes data to the trigger connector.
Trigger WE Bool Control Configures trigger for reading and writing. When true, writing is enabled. When false, reading is enabled and the output is tristated.
DIO Port 0 Rd Data U8 Indicator Reads digital data through the AUX I/O connector on DIO Port 0 channels <0..3>. Bit 0 corresponds with DIO Port 0 (0), bit 1 corresponds with DIO Port 0 (1), and so on. The top four bits of the U8 are unused.
DIO Port 0 Wr Data U8 Control Writes digital data through the AUX I/O connector on DIO Port 0 channels <0..3>. Bit 0 corresponds with DIO Port 0 (0), bit 1 corresponds with DIO Port 0 (1), and so on. The top four bits of the U8 are unused.
DIO Port 0 WE Bool Control Configures DIO Port 0 channels <0..3> on the AUX I/O connector for reading or writing.

TRUE = Writing enabled
FALSE = Reading enabled (output tristated)
DIO Port 1 Rd Data U8 Indicator Reads digital data through the AUX I/O connector on DIO Port 1 channels <0..3>. Bit 0 corresponds with DIO Port 1 (0), bit 1 corresponds with DIO Port 1 (1), and so on. The top four bits of the U8 are unused.

PFI 0 Rd Data Bool Indicator Reads digital data through the AUX I/O connector on PFI 0.
PFI 0 Wr Data Bool Control Writes digital data through the AUX I/O connector on PFI 0 if the PFI 0 WE signal is set to TRUE.
PFI 0 WE Bool Control Configures PFI 0 on the AUX I/O connector for reading or writing.

TRUE = Writing enabled
FALSE = Reading enabled (output tristated)
PFI 1 Rd Data Bool Indicator Reads digital data through the AUX I/O connector on PFI 1.
PFI 1 Wr Data Bool Control Writes digital data through the AUX I/O connector on PFI 1 if the PFI 1 WE signal is set to TRUE.
PFI 1 WE Bool Control Configures PFI 1 on the AUX I/O connector for reading or writing.

PFI 2 Rd Data Bool Indicator Reads digital data through the AUX I/O connector on PFI 2.
