From Windows, select Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI Real-Time Hypervisor»NI Real-Time Hypervisor Manager to launch this utility. From NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), select Tools»RT Hypervisor Manager to launch this utility.

Note  You cannot configure device partition settings when you boot into the NI Real-Time Hypervisor. Therefore, you can launch the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Manager only when you boot into Windows by selecting Windows from the boot menu on system startup. You also must log into Windows as an administrator to launch the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Manager.

Use the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Manager to configure and manage a Real-Time Hypervisor system. This utility includes the following components.

  • File—Includes the following menu options.
    • Apply—Applies the current configuration. If necessary, this operation first performs an Auto Resolve operation to resolve PCI interrupt request line (PIRQ) conflicts. If the current OS assignments create unavoidable PIRQ conflicts or fail to meet the system requirements, this option is unavailable. You also can use the Apply Configuration button to perform this operation.

If the configuration is applied successfully, this operation displays a configuration report with instructions for connecting each device to the correct card slot.
    • Reset—Resets the configuration to match the physical slot location of each device.
    • Last Report—Displays the configuration report generated by the last applied configuration.
    • Auto Resolve—Automatically resolves device conflicts by moving devices to different slots while maintaining the current OS assignments. If the current OS assignments do not meet the system requirements, this option is unavailable.
    • Re-Run Setup—Performs the following secondary installation operations that are not performed by the NI Real-Time Hypervisor installer.
      • Configures boot files
      • Installs shared hard drive support
    • Exit—Closes the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Manager.
  • Basic—Includes the following menu options.
    • Devices—Displays the installed devices that most commonly need to be configured.
    • OS—Displays the operating system that controls each device. Certain devices, such as memory and CPU cores, are partitioned between the two operating systems, and the virtual Ethernet connection is shared. However, most devices must be assigned to a single operating system, in which case the other operating system cannot use the device.

If two or more devices share the same PCI interrupt request line (PIRQ), you must assign those devices to the same operating system.

To configure the memory allocation of the system, double-click the word Partitioned in the Memory row to display the Set Memory Allocation dialog box.
  • Advanced—Includes the following menu options.
    • Devices—Displays all installed devices.

    • PCI Interrupt—Displays the PCI interrupt request line (PIRQ) used by the device. The PIRQ used by the device depends on the slot used by the device and the effect of any PCI bridges. You can click and drag a device to move it to a different slot and change the PIRQ used by the device accordingly.
  • Apply Configuration—Applies the current configuration. If necessary, this operation first performs an Auto Resolve operation. If the current OS assignments do not meet the system requirements, this option is unavailable. You also can select File⁐Apply to perform this operation.

If the configuration is applied successfully, this operation displays a configuration report with instructions for connecting each device to the correct card slot.
