Select File»New to open the New dialog box. Expand the Project»Project from Wizard folder and double-click Robotics Project to display the Robotics Project Wizard. Select Robotics Environment Simulator from the Select project type list and click Next to launch the Robotics Environment Simulator Wizard. You also can right-click My Computer in the Project Explorer window and select New»Robotics Environment Simulator from the shortcut menu to launch this wizard.
The Robotics Environment Simulator Wizard allows you to design or modify an environment and robots you want to simulate and then generate files to run the simulation in a LabVIEW project.
To modify components in an existing simulation project, right-click the simulator instance () in the Project Explorer window and select Properties from the shortcut menu to launch this wizard.
On the Overview page, select a template from the Simulator Templates list or browse to a manifest file on disk that defines a simulation scene. Use other pages in the wizard to add or modify robots, sensors, and obstacles.
|Tip This dialog box displays helpful messages in the lower left corner, depending on where you position the cursor and what actions you take. You can use keyboard shortcuts and other actions to interact with the Simulation Scene at the right of the wizard.|
The Robotics Environment Simulator Wizard contains the following items:
- Overview—Provides access to components in the simulation scene you are configuring. This page includes the following components:
- Simulator Templates—Lists predefined simulation scenes you can customize. Select a built-in template from the list or select Browse to find and load a simulation scene from an existing manifest file.
- Components—Lists components in the simulation scene, such as the environment, robots, sensors on robots, and obstacles in the environment. When you select a component in the Components tree, LabVIEW selects that component in the simulation scene, and XYZ axes appear on the component.
- Environment, Robot, Sensor, and Obstacle—Provide access to components you can add to the simulation scene. These pages includes the following components:
- Model List—Contains components you can add to the Simulation Scene. Double-click an environment template to apply it in the Simulation Scene. Click and drag robots, sensors, and obstacles into the Simulation Scene to add them.
- Model Preview—Displays components you select in the Model List tree. To add a robot, sensor, or actuator to the scene, press and hold the <Ctrl> key while you click and drag the component into the Simulation Scene.
- Properties—Displays the properties of a component you select in the simulation scene or the Components list on the Overview page. Click a property or its value in the Properties table to modify that value for a component. When you manipulate a component in the Simulation Scene, LabVIEW automatically updates corresponding values in the Properties table. This table expresses values in SI units and SI-derived units.
You also can use LVODE properties to view and modify properties of components programmatically.
- Simulation Scene—Displays the simulation scene.
- Rotation Behavior—Configures the direction of rotation when you click a component in the simulation scene and drag the mouse to rotate the component. You can choose to rotate the component freely, or without reference to axes, or you can restrict rotation to be around only the x-, y-, or z-axis of the component.
- View Options—Allows you to configure the view in the Simulation Scene.
- View to XY plane—Changes the view of the Simulation Scene to be along the XY axes.
- View to YZ plane—Changes the view of the Simulation Scene to be along the YZ axes.
- View to XZ plane—Changes the view of the Simulation Scene to be along the XZ axes.
- View to Object—Zooms in on a component selected in the Simulation Scene.
When you finish designing the simulation scene, click the Next button to specify where to save the simulation project. After you enter the project name and location, or if you are modifying a scene defined in an existing manifest file, click the Save button to save the scene in a manifest file and exit this wizard.
