In the Robot Simulation Model Builder, you can import robot models or import component models to assemble a simulated robot. You also can export the robots that you design for use in a simulation program.
To import existing models, click the Import button and navigate to a robot model. The robot model files that LabVIEW Robotics Module supports are .xml files. The robot model that you import appears in the Model View. You can position, modify, and configure the robot model as you design the robot model.
Exporting the robot model enables you to save the robot model. Click the Export button to save the robot model as a .xml file. If you save the robot model to the default directory of LabVIEW Data\Robotics\Simulator\Model\Config\, the robot model appears in the User Model Library of the Model Library in the builder. Save the robot models in the Robot folder and save the component models in the Customized Parts folder. Robot and component models you save in these folders also appear in the Robotics Environment Simulation Wizard as a component you can add when creating a simulation scene.
|Note If you save the robot model to a directory other than the default directory, the model does not appear in the Model Library so you cannot add the model from the Model Library. You need to use the Import button to import the model.|
When you export the robot model, LabVIEW automatically creates a folder in the same directory that you save the manifest file. This folder stores the resource files of the robot model, such as the CAD files and texture. The name of the folder uses the format of model_nameRSC. For example, if you create a robot model with the name my_robot, the resource folder for this robot model is my_robotRSC. Do not delete, rename, or modify any content in this folder.
