c = is_validvarname(a)

Legacy Name: isvarname

Description

Determines whether a string is a valid variable name. A valid variable name begins with a letter followed by a number of letters, digits, or underscores. The length of a valid variable name must be less than or equal to maxnamelen. is_validvarname does not determine whether a variable of the name you specify exists.
