Syntax

y = skewness(x)

y = skewness(x, w)

y = skewness(x, w, dim)

Description

Computes the skewness of the input vector or matrix.

Examples

Inputs

Name Description
x Specifies a real or complex vector or matrix.
w Specifies the calculated skewness type. w is a scalar that accepts the following values:

0 Computes the population skewness value.
1 (default) Computes the sample skewness value.
dim Specifies the dimension of x across which to compute the skewness if x is a matrix. dim is a scalar that accepts the following values:

1 (default) Computes the column-wise skewness.
2 Computes the row-wise skewness.

Outputs

Name Description
y Returns the skewness of x. If x is a vector, y returns the skewness value of all elements in x. If x is a matrix, y returns a vector of the skewness of each of the rows or columns in x, depending on the value of dim. y is a scalar or vector.
