The RF signal takes the following path from the PXIe-5645 FPGA to the RF OUT front panel connector.


  1. The I and Q digital signals are sent to the baseband digital-to-analog converters (DACs) through a LabVIEW FPGA I/O node.
    Note Note  When programming the device using NI-RFSA and NI-RFSG, the I and Q digital signals are sent to the baseband digital-to-analog converters (DACs) after being written from the host.
  2. The DAC converts the digital I and Q waveforms into analog I and Q signals at 120 MS/s.
  3. The analog I and Q signals are adjusted in gain and offset before reaching the baseband inputs of the direct conversion upconverter.
  4. The direct conversion upconverter translates the I and Q analog signals in frequency to the RF center frequency to which the LO is tuned.
  5. The frequency translated RF signal is amplified or attenuated as appropriate to reach the required RMS power level at the front panel.
  6. The RF signal is transmitted through the PXIe-5645 RF OUT front panel connector.
