NI Electric Motor Simulation Toolkit
October 2015, 373998C-01
The NI Electric Motor Simulation Toolkit is an add-on for both the LabVIEW platform and NI VeriStand. On the LabVIEW platform, this toolkit allows you to control and simulate an electric motor. This toolkit uses field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology and integrates the finite element analysis (FEA) method to provide high-speed and high-fidelity electric motor simulation.
This toolkit also combines NI real-time testing software technology with third-party software. You can use this toolkit with JSOL JMAG-RT, part of the FEA tool suite from JSOL Corporation. You also can use this toolkit with ANSYS simulation software.
The Electric Motor Simulation Toolkit provides the following components:
- Electric Motor Simulation VIs—The Electric Motor Simulation VIs provide functionality that you use to simulate an electric motor. To access the Electric Motor Simulation VIs, select View»Functions Palette from the block diagram in LabVIEW and navigate to the Control Design and Simulation»Electric Motor Simulation palette.
- Sample projects—The sample projects demonstrate useful design patterns and serve as starting points for your applications. You can customize the sample projects according to the needs of your application. Select File»Create Project to display the Create Project dialog box, which lists the Electric Motor Simulation sample projects in the Motor Simulation category.
- Examples—Example VIs demonstrate common applications that you can create by using the Electric Motor Simulation Toolkit. You can modify an example VI to fit an application, or you can copy and paste from one or more example VIs into a VI that you create. Refer to the labview\examples\Electric Motor Simulation directory for example VIs installed with this toolkit. You also can access these examples by selecting Help»Find Examples and then selecting Toolkits and Modules»Electric Motor Simulation in the NI Example Finder.
