This tab allows you to edit properties for assets. You can define new properties, determine how they appear on the Asset Configuration page, define validation rules for their values, and specify rules for when to hide or disable them.

What do you want to do?

Task Action
Configure a new property for an asset type. Click Add or Edit to display the Property Definition dialog box where you can specify settings such as key, label, and type for a new property definition.
Note  When prompted, choose the affirmative option in the Update Nodes? dialog box to apply your changes to the definition and all existing instances of the asset type to which the property definition is assigned. Otherwise InsightCM applies your changes only to new instances of the asset type.
Remove a property definition. Select a property definition and click Remove to delete it from the definition and every existing instance of the asset type to which it is assigned.
Specify which property fields appear in a particular section of the user interface for an asset type. Click Edit Layout Groups to display the Layout Groups dialog box where you can add, remove, or edit layout group definitions for all property definitions in a particular asset type.
Create validation rules for properties associated with an asset type. Click Edit Validation Rules to display the Validation Rules dialog box where you can add, remove, or edit validation rules for all property definitions in a particular asset type.
