Data Viewer page users load trends of features and spectral bands assigned to a sensor. Therefore, an important part of the configuration for a sensor is the list of features and spectral bands to calculate for each channel when a device collects a data set. Also important is the unit of measurement in which you configure the device to collect measurements and express feature/spectral band values.

Available Units of Measurement and Feature Sets

The availability of specific features/spectral bands and their units depends on the type of measurement the sensor performs.

Units

The units in which the NI InsightCM web application allows you to collect measurements and express features/spectral bands for a sensor depends on its measurement type. For example, the measurement type for the Accelerometer (923x), Velocity (Single Differentiated), and Displacement (Double Differentiated) asset types is acceleration. If g's and m/s2 are configured for the acceleration measurement type, you can configure assets of any of these types to have its data expressed in g's or m/s2.

To configure the units for an asset, browse to the Asset Configuration page, select that asset, and click the Properties tab.

To add or remove units from a measurement type, click the navigation menu and select System»Asset Definitions tab.

Feature Sets

You can configure a sensor to calculate a unique set of features and spectral bands. However, you might want all sensors of a certain type in the system to have a standard set of features and spectral bands by default. Manually assigning the standard set to each sensor can be tedious and prone to error. Therefore, the NI InsightCM web application assigns a default set of features and spectral bands, referred to as a feature set, to each sensor type. Although a sensor always inherits from a feature set, you can choose to assign additional features and spectral bands to the sensor.

The feature set that a sensor inherits depends on its measurement type. For example, the measurement type for the Accelerometer (923x), Velocity (Single Differentiated), and Displacement (Double Differentiated) sensor types is acceleration. Sensors of any of these types inherit the features and spectral bands in the acceleration feature set.

To add or remove a feature/spectral band from a feature set, click the navigation menu , select System»Asset Definitions, then select an asset type and click the Features tab.

To assign additional features and spectral bands that are not part of a feature set to a sensor, browse to the Asset Configuration page and click the Features tab for that sensor.
