To observe the current state of equipment, you might want to view live or very recent measurements from sensors. The process for accessing this data depends on the type of data you want to view:

  • Stream data—When a stream-enabled operating state is in progress, data viewers can display live trends and measurements as devices acquire data from equipment.
  • A standard periodic acquisition—You can request that any NI InsightCM devices connected to a piece of equipment perform a periodic acquisition. This request, referred to as a force trigger, is useful if you want to take a measurement sooner than the next regularly scheduled acquisition. For example, you might want to quickly observe the state of equipment in response to an alarm or other report of an issue.
