Complete the following steps to add a new thermal imaging device to the NI InsightCM Server system:

  1. In the navigation bar at the top of the page, click the arrow next to the Configuration button and select Devices in the pull-down menu to navigate to the Device Configuration page.
  2. In the Devices tab, click Add.
  3. Select Connect to an online device and enter the IP address in the textbox. If you do not know the device IP address, click Browse to see a list of devices on the same subnet as the server machine.
  4. To automatically check for common problems that prevent a device from connecting to NI InsightCM Server and coming online, click the Connect button. The NI InsightCM web application opens the Test Connection dialog box and checks for problems.
Note  If a check fails, this dialog box provides information about how to resolve the issue. Resolve all failed checks before continuing to add a thermal imaging device.
  5. Click Next.
  6. If the device passes all tests in the Test Connection dialog box, the NI InsightCM web application detects and displays the controller. Click Next.
  7. Enter the two types of names for the device:
    • Device Name—The name you want to appear throughout the NI InsightCM web application. Assign an easily identifiable name, such as one that indicates the physical device location or the equipment it monitors.
    • Hardware Name—The hostname of the device, which is in the format of NI-IC-ModelNumber-SerialNumber by default. If the device is online, NI InsightCM Server automatically populates this name. Otherwise, you can find the two values printed on a label on the back of the device.
  8. Click Finish.
  9. When the NI InsightCM web application prompts you to send the connection information to the device web server, click No so you can discover and configure cameras before InsightCM updates the device.
