RSL Details

In the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), competitors use the RSL channel on the roboRIO to generate a flag signal for indicating that the robot is ready to operate. The roboRIO calls this flag signal the robot signal light because the RSL LED lights up when the RSL channel returns the flag signal. You also can use the RSL channel for other applications.

Caveats for using the RSL Channel

The following list describes the caveats for using the RSL channel on the roboRIO:

  • Make sure to reference the RSL signal to the ground (GND) of the RSL port. The roboRIO does not connect the RSL GND to the GND of other ports.
  • When you specify TRUE for Value, the RSL output returns the roboRIO power supply voltage.
  • The power supply voltage for the roboRIO to properly work ranges from 7 V to 16 V.
