If you create a device software process that generates data, and you want the Data Event Creator process to write that data, the process must register the data. For example, various NI-developed processes produce waveforms, speed profiles, single-point values, and trends for Data Event Creator to write. These processes must prepare Data Event Creator to write data with the correct properties by registering the data when they initialize.

Registering data is a two-part process:

  1. Obtain the properties that Data Event Creator requires.
  2. Send the appropriate message to the Data Event Creator process.

Obtaining Data Properties for Registration

Before you can send a registration message to the Data Event Creator process, you must build the cluster of data properties that Data Event Creator requires. The properties that each type of data source (waveform, speed profile, single-point values, and trend) requires are different.

The processes in the Dataflow Script, including the Data Event Creator process, operate on data for one data group at a time. Therefore, you must register data sources from each data group separately.
