Owning Palette: IV Analyzer VIs
Requires: ELVIS III Toolkit
Traces the three-wire current-voltage characteristic curves for NPN and PNP BJT transistors.
|Maximum Collector Current specifies the maximum current, in amps, allowed for the collector during a voltage sweep.|
|Minimum Collector Current specifies the minimum current, in amps, allowed for the collector during a voltage sweep.|
|Instrument Handle In specifies the session created by the IV Initialize VI.|
|Collector Voltage Array specifies the voltage points, in volts, that the collector receives during the voltage sweep. An error occurs if you specify a voltage that is greater than 10V or less than -10V.|
|Base Current Array specifies the current points, in amps, that the base receives during the current sweep. An error occurs if the current of the collector is greater than +30 mA or less than -30 mA.|
|Collector Current Limiting Resistor specifies the resistance of the collector current limiting resistor. You can only enter values that are the nth power of 10. Collector Current Limiting Resistor must be between 10 and 1000000. Increasing Collector Current Limiting Resistor allows for more accurate measurements, but it also reduces the maximum current you can measure. To get the most accurate results, use the highest resistance that does not saturate the measurement for the voltage range you specify.|
|Error In describes error conditions that occur before this node runs. This input provides standard error in functionality.|
|Response Time (s) specifies the time, in seconds, that this instrument waits before it acquires the response signal. The default value is 0.05.|
|Instrument Handle Out returns a reference to the instrument.|
|3Wire Data returns the voltage the instrument applies to the device under test (DUT) and the current it measures during a voltage sweep. Each element in 3Wire Data returns the voltage and current at one current point during the current sweep, in the same order as Sweep Current Array. |
|Error Out contains error information. This output provides standard error out functionality.|
Before you take measurement, connect the transistor base to the BASE pin, the collector to the DUT+ pin, and the emitter to the DUT- pin. You can use the IV Calculate Linear Sweep Array VI to obtain Collector Voltage Array and Base Current Array before using this VI.
