NI X Series 3D Object Scanner

Overview

Watch a demo using an NI X Series device and LabVIEW 2009 to acquire distance data from a precision laser distance sensor to plot an object in 3D on the front panel. By using new NI-STC3 timing and synchronization technology on the X Series device, you can precisely synchronize the rotation of the object and vertical movement of the laser sensor to characterize the X, Y, and Z points within the object. The scanning system requires analog I/O, digital I/O, and four counters, and you can interface with it using a single X Series device that costs $599 USD.
