AutoTuning being usefulIt is quite difficult to have an autotuning algorithm that works for every single system. Many of our customer use the autotuning feature and are quite happy with it. I would like to learn more about your system and how/why the autotuning algorithm didn't produced adequate gains.

Avoid the Autotuning
Notice that the Autotuning feature of this NI software was left untouched in this demo, something I understand very well. The Autotuning subVI works very poorly, mathematically, and also in its user interface. (Try pressing the Cancel button during autotuning, and catch that cancel in the outer control-loop; can't be done). More often than not this subVI produce worse PID parameters out than what you started with.
