Overview

This webcast covers some of the fundamental considerations associated with developing human machine interface (HMI) applications for National Instruments hardware. Specifically, we focus on developing a simple HMI for NI CompactRIO. In this process, we cover the definition of an HMI, what tasks you should  run within your HMI application, what HMI hardware options NI offers to fulfill your needs, and how to make the right choice based on your application and hardware requirements. While focusing on CompactRIO, we take a closer look at the touch panel computer hardware family and choose the Intel Atom processor-based NI TPC-2212 as the platform for our HMI deployment. Finally, we use the NI LabVIEW Touch Panel Module for HMI development and walk through its various features and operations while building a simple, one-pane interface to a prebuilt CompactRIO application.
