Syntax

FileInformation.GetFileFormatVersion

Return Value

String

Purpose

Returns the format version of the file. If no format version is available, the method returns an empty string.

Remarks

Generally, the file format version is the format of the file. The method returns the TestStand Engine version that saved a TestStand file, the LabVIEW server version that saved a VI file, or the type of binary file for DLL and executable files. For example, the file format version of a Microsoft Windows XP binary executable is usually PE (Portable Executable), the file format version of a .NET assembly is .NET, the file format version of a LabVIEW VI is the version of the LabVIEW development system that saved the VI, such as 12.0.0, and the file format version of a TestStand sequence file is the version of the TestStand Engine that saved the file, such as 5.0.0.

This property throws an exception if TestStand cannot locate the file when it is first accessed. Use the FileInformation.FileExists property to determine whether the file is available.
