The NI PXIe-4112 ships with sense jumpers installed on the output connector plug for a local sense hardware configuration. The following figure shows the output connector assembly that contains the output connector plug and installed sense jumpers.

|Note While you can manually wire the hardware for local sense, the NI-DCPower API supports only remote sense for this device. Thus, NI-DCPower cannot detect whether a local or remote sense hardware configuration is in use. Ensure you select the appropriate hardware configuration for your application.|
To manually wire the hardware for local sense measurements, ensure the sense terminals on the output connector plug are connected to their respective output terminals and connect the output terminals to your DUT.
To configure the hardware for remote sense measurements, remove all sense jumpers from the output connector plug and connect all output and sense terminals to your DUT.
The output control loop of the NI PXIe-4112 always includes the sense leads. As a result, the sense leads must always be connected to maintain proper output regulation, so you must ensure that the sense leads do not accidentally become disconnected while the output is enabled. Internal protection resistors on the NI PXIe-4112 minimize the impact of open sense leads by providing a fallback sense path from the output terminals. When the sense terminals are disconnected and this fallback path is active, the output terminal voltage is approximately 2% higher than the programmed value, and the accuracy of the measured voltage is degraded by the same amount.
