Maps the values of a channel in quantization steps.

Set ChnResult = ChnQuantize(Y, ResultChannel, QuantResolution, QuantRangeMin, QuantRangeMax)

Input Parameters

Y Specifies the data channel containing the values to be processed.
ResultChannel Specifies the result channel.
QuantResolution Specifies the number of steps into which DIAdem divides a channel.
Longinteger variable
2 <= QuantResolution <= 2147483647
QuantRangeMin Specifies the bottom range limit where DIAdem starts dividing a channel.
Floating-point number variable
 To adjust the channel to the range in the best possible way use the top range limit as the channel minimum: Data.Root.ChannelGroups(ChannelGroup).Channels(Channel).Properties("minimum").Value
QuantRangeMax Specifies the top range limit up to which DIAdem divides a channel.
Floating-point number variable
 To adjust the channel to the range in the best possible way use the top range limit as the channel minimum: Data.Root.ChannelGroups(ChannelGroup).Channels(Channel).Properties("maximum").Value

Return Parameters

ChnResult ElementList <Data> type return value. Contains the result channel.

Use the Quantize function or its command ChnQuantize in order to map the channel values of a channel to quanitization steps so that DIAdem can save the values in an integer data type. When determining the target data type with quantization steps, the quantization generates a quantization error.

When saving TDM and DAT files, DIAdem can use scaling parameters in order to map the channel values on an integer data type. If you select Automatic either in the dialog box DIAdem NAVIGATOR Settings or in the dialog box Settings for DIAdem DAT Files, DIAdem tries to save numeric channels in a format that saves the most memory space on the hard drive.
