Use this dialog box to specify the default paths for the User folders. These settings apply to the default settings of the load and save dialog boxes, immediately after DIAdem launches. Some settings are only visible in the Extended mode when you enable Path configuration.

Path behavior Specifies whether you use the standard path behavior or the extended path behavior. In the Standard mode you can specify the path for the data and the path for all other documents. In the Extended mode you can specify all paths separately.
Synchronize paths Specifies whether DIAdem hides or shows the additional column Synchronize Paths where you assign several paths to one group.
User paths Specifies the default setting of the paths from which DIAdem loads files and into which DIAdem saves files. As soon as you load a file from a different path into a load dialog box or save a file to a different path in a save dialog box, DIAdem changes the respective user paths. The default setting that DIAdem uses when the program launches remains unchanged.
The predefined user path is by default at C:\Users\Public\. All users can read files from or write files into this path under Windows Vista.
File Type Specifies the file type for which you specify the load path and the save path. The default setting has two paths. The first path specifies the data path and the second path specifies the path for all other files. Data files include files such as TDM files and DAT files. Other files, for example, are layouts for DIAdem VIEW and DIAdem REPORT, scripts, user dialog boxes, media such as graphics files and video files, and configuration files for search definitions and import filters and export filters.
Load / Save Specifies whether you set the load file or the save file. DIAdem assigns the load paths and the save paths to the same path.
Find Opens the dialog box where you specify the user folder.
Synchronize paths Specifies the group of which DIAdem synchronizes the paths. If you change a path of one group, DIAdem automatically adjusts all other paths of the same group to this path. You can assign several paths to one group. For example, if you assign the read layout path and the write layout file to the same group, DIAdem displays the same path, when loading or saving layouts, in the respective dialog boxes.
DIAdem assigns the load paths and the save paths to the same group.
This setting is visible in the Extended mode when you select Synchronize paths.
Note  If you do not specify a drive, you can specify paths relative to the program path. For example, if DIAdem is installed on C:\DIAdem and you specify the path MyPath\Documents, DIAdem uses the path C:\DIAdem\MyPath\Documents.
Note  You cannot change the predefined paths with a script.
Note  DIAdem saves the paths that are predefined in this dialog box in the Desktop file. The DIAdem standard desktop file uses the wildcard CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS in the path specification. This wildcard corresponds with the path to the folder Shared Documents. By default this path is at C:\Users\Public\.
In the path settings you can use all constants that are described in the SHGetFolderCSIDL and SHGetFolderPath variables. Enclose the constants in % signs, for example, %CSIDL_COMMON_DOCUMENTS%. You also can use Windows environment variables.
