The following is an overview of the folder structure in DIAdem. The paths relate to a standard DIAdem installation. In the table, replace the "…" character by the path where you installed DIAdem. The default path is "C:\Program Files\National Instruments" :

Path Folders Contents
…\DIADEM Program folder Contains the files that DIAdem needs for its functionality, for example, program files, control files, and help files.
…\DIADEM System folder Contains runtime-critical system files. When DIAdem is installed, these system files are in the program folder. You can change the system folder by specifying the DemSys environment variable when you launch DIAdem. This system folder must not be read-only.
…\DIADEM\ADDINFO AddInfo folder Contains additional files, for example, drivers for importing and exporting data.
…\DIADEM\SYMBOLS Symbol folder Contains symbol files.
…\DIADEM\EXAMPLES Example folder Contains the examples and demonstrations that you can start from the Help. The folder contains the subfolders Data for data and Documents for all other files. The example folder is write-protected. Most of the examples that you can open from the Help files allow you to copy the files that are associated with the example into another folder.
…\DIADEM\MANUALS Manual folder Contains manual files as PDFs.
…\DIADEM\RESOURCE Resource folder Contains dialog box files and further system files.
…\DIADEM\LIBR Library folder In the standard configuration DIAdem loads the default files of the DIAdem panels from the library paths. If you specify a file without a path in a load command and if the file you want to load is not in the current user paths, DIAdem tries to load the file from the library path. The library folder is read-only. The folder contains the subfolders Data for data and Documents for all other files. To make the default settings for these folders, open the Set DIAdem Paths dialog box:
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\National Instruments\DIAdem\<Version>
Desktop folder Contains the desktop files. By default, the desktop files are in the folder of the current user profile. To specify another desktop folder, create the Windows environment variable DemDDD before you launch DIAdem and assign the desktop folder you want as the value for this variable. This folder also contains other user-specific and program-specific files.
c:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\<Version> User folder Contains files that the user loads and saves. In the default configuration, this folder contains example files for the manuals. The folder contains the subfolders Data for data and Documents for all other files. Data files include files such as TDM files and DAT files. Other files are files such as layouts or scripts, or media such as graphics files and video files. To make the default settings for these folders, open the Set DIAdem Paths dialog box:
Note  The page DIAdem Path Variables contains a list of all the DIAdem path variables.
