The General tab of the Options pane of the Configuration dialog box contains the following options that apply to the entire Requirements Gateway application:

  • Display—Contains the following options for specifying the display of the Requirements Gateway application:
    • Font (changes do not take effect until next session)—Specifies the current font face and size for the views in the main window. Any changes you make to the font settings do not take effect until the next time you launch Requirements Gateway.
    • Display document name in impact mode—When you enable this option, Requirements Gateway shows the document names in parentheses after each element in the Upstream Impact Information and Downstream Impact Information columns in the Impact Analysis view. By default, the Upstream Impact Information and Downstream Impact Information columns show only the names of all upstream and downstream elements related to the element you select in the Selection column and do not specify the names of the documents that contain the elements.
    • Application stay on top—Specifies whether the main window remains visible when you launch or use other applications. When you enable this option, you must manually minimize the main window.
  • Miscellaneous—Contains the following additional project configuration options:
    • Number of recent files in the File menu—The number of most recently used project files that Requirements Gateway stores in the File menu.
    • Update period (in hours) for non automatic updated document—The duration, in hours, for Requirements Gateway to automatically reload project document source information that is not specified in a source file, such as IBM Rational DOORS formal modules or information stored in a database. For file-based documents, Requirements Gateway automatically updates the file each time you save it.
    • Default type for directory drag and drop—Specifies a multiple-document type for a project directory that you drag from outside Requirements Gateway and drop into the Project Configuration pane on the Project pane.
    • Text editor—Specifies the default application associated with .txt files.
    • Ask for reloadings—Specifies whether Requirements Gateway automatically prompts you to reload the project after you make changes to a project document source file in an external application.
    • Enable debugging—Generates a log file in the same directory as the project that you can use to help you debug a project file.
    • Launch supervisor when opening Windows session—Enables an icon for Requirements Gateway in the Microsoft Windows system tray.
    • Open document after generation—When you enable this option, Requirements Gateway opens a report in its native editing environment after generating the report.
Note Note  By default, Requirements Gateway displays RTF reports in Microsoft Word because Microsoft WordPad may not properly display tables in RTF reports. If you do not want to use Word to view RTF files, National Instruments recommends using Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 or later.
    • Keep a history of cover link creation and deletion in Link Details view—Specifies whether Requirements Gateway displays the History and Information tabs of the Link Details view so that you can keep comments in the tabs.
    • Comment cover link creation and deletion in Link Details view—Enables you to insert a comment in the History and Information tabs when you click to create a cover link. This option is available after you select Keep a history of cover link creation and deletion in Link Details view.
    • Save absolute paths—Specifies whether Requirements Gateway saves the documents in absolute paths.
    • Use internal types—Enables you to create attributes, create reference attributes, and create covering links in Requirements Gateway.
