The Edit menu can contain the following options depending on the view you are using in the main window:

  • Navigate—Launches the source file for a project document in the default application for the file type. If you select an element of a project document, such as a section or requirement, and then select this option, Requirements Gateway navigates to the element in the source file. The accuracy of locating the selected element within the file depends on the precision of the element definition for the document type. This option is available in all views.
  • Undo—Reverts the creation of a new element in a project or type. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Redo—Repeats the creation of a new element that was previously undone in a project or type. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Back—Displays the previous view of the main window. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Forward—Displays the next view of the main window. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Copy—Copies to the clipboard the ID of the selected requirement or the values of attributes from the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, or Requirement Details view. You can also use this option to copy the image in the Graphical view.
  • Copy For—Launches a submenu that contains options for copying reference information from the element. The options available in the submenu vary depending on the document type. Each type defines type-specific references that you can use between elements of the documents of the type. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis and Impact Analysis views.
  • Paste—Pastes text from the clipboard. This option is available only in the Requirement Details view.
  • Delete—Deletes selected links that you created. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Find—Launches the Find dialog box, in which you can define a search string with options. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Find Next—Searches for the next occurrence of the string you specify in the Find dialog box. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Find Previous—Searches for the previous occurrence of the string you specify in the Find dialog box. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
  • Marks—Contains the following options for creating and managing marks. This option is available in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views.
    • Next—Displays the next marked element in the project workspace.
    • Previous—Displays the previous occurrence of the marked element.
    • Remove marks—Removes the marks from the currently selected marked elements. You can reapply the mark by right-clicking the element and selecting Marks»<Mark Name> from the context menu.
    • Remove marks recursively—Removes any marks applied to a selected section element and its child elements.
    • Remove all marks—Removes all marks of a given category, such as modified elements, search results, or custom marks.
    • Modifications—Applies a mark to each modified element that already displays an orange icon when Requirements Gateway reloads the project after you make changes.
    • Edit—Launches the Edit marks dialog box, in which you can customize the default modifications mark and create custom marks.
  • Add an Attribute—Adds a Boolean or Value attribute to a selected requirement. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, and Graphical views. Select this option to launch a submenu that contains a list of existing attributes and the following options:
    • Define a Boolean attribute—Launches a dialog box in which you can specify a name for a new Boolean attribute.
    • Define a Value attribute—Launches a dialog box in which you can specify a name and value for a new Value reference attribute.
  • Add Text—Launches a dialog box in which you can add text to the selected element. The added text appears under the Text Addition header in the Text section of the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, Graphical, and Requirement Details views. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, and Graphical views.
  • Create Covering Links—Inserts new covering links between two or more elements that you select in the traceability graph. You can create links between multiple documents and requirements. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis, Impact Analysis, and Graphical views.
  • Create Links—Creates a custom link between selected elements of two documents. This option is available only in the Coverage Analysis and Impact Analysis views. This option is available in the Graphical view only when you define a custom link element for a type for added elements and apply the type for added elements to a modification file for a project document.
  • Reverse Links—Reverses the direction of the selected link that you created in the Graphical view. For example, if you created a link from a high-level element to a low-level element, select this option to instead link from a low-level element to a high-level element. You must create modification files for both project documents involved in the link and apply the same type for added elements that defines the custom link element to each modification file. This option is available only in the Graphical view.
  • Add Link—Creates a link. This option is available only in the Link Details view.
  • Delete Link—Deletes a link. This option is available only in the Link Details view.
