A type specifies the interface for analyzing a project document and capturing traceability information from the intermediate file that Requirements Gateway creates from a project document source file. For example, a project document of the LabVIEW type selects a LabVIEW VI, project file, class file, project library, or LLB as the source file and specifies that Requirements Gateway creates an XML intermediate file.
Type elements use regular expressions to specify patterns in the text of the intermediate file for Requirements Gateway to identify instances of an element. Types that use XML intermediate files also specify the structure of the XML data to identify traceability information.
Requirements Gateway includes built-in types to interface with supported external applications. If the organization and format of data in a project document source file does not adhere to the format a built-in type defines, you can create a custom type.
