Click the Graphical View tab in the main window to display the Graphical view, which displays each document as an object with its traceability elements displayed in a tree view within the object. Solid lines represent traceability between requirement elements of a document and covering elements in another document. Dotted lines between objects represent links other than references, such as support, allocation, or validation information for requirements.

When you select an element within a document object, the Graphical view highlights all the linked covering or downstream elements.

Note Note  Refer to Chapter 3, Analyzing Requirements, of the Getting Started with NI Requirements Gateway manual for a tutorial on using the Graphical view.

Lines in the traceability graph appear in different colors depending on the type of reference or link the line represents, as the following table describes.

Line Color Description
Black Covering reference defined in project document source file.
Light Blue Highlighted traceability of the selected element.
Dark Blue Covering reference defined in project document source file, with a reference attribute added.
Red Traceability violation.
Green A link that you create and that the project document source file does not define.
