If you are new to .NET development, there are several resources available on the Microsoft Web site to explain the Visual Studio environment and the .NET Framework:
Integrated Help
The Measurement Studio conceptual help, function reference, and walkthroughs are fully integrated into the Visual Studio Help and are available by selecting Help on the Visual Studio toolbar.

Conceptual help—Conceptual help explains Measurement Studio features and functionality and provides background, feature information, and process descriptions. Measurement Studio includes conceptual help for class libraries and other development topics:
- Class library conceptual help provides an overview of each .NET class library and includes helpful information on many specific controls and classes. You can use these topics to research how to use a particular class library before beginning development. For example, the Using the Measurement Studio Network Variable Data Source in Windows Forms topic guides you through the process of binding network variables to properties of Windows Forms controls.
- Other conceptual help provides instructions for using the Visual Studio integrated tools, deployment, and other topics that are not specific to particular class libraries. For example, the Creating a New Measurement Studio .NET Project with Integrated Tools topic walks you through the process of creating a new measurement application using Measurement Studio assemblies.
To view the Measurement Studio conceptual help for the .NET class libraries, select Help»View Help»NI Measurement Studio Help»NI Measurement Studio .NET Class Library»Using the Measurement Studio .NET Class Libraries and expand the contents.
- Function reference—The function reference lists each Measurement Studio namespace and also the corresponding syntax, parameters, return values, and exceptions for each member. The function reference also provides additional information to help you use functions in applications, including example code snippets. To view the function reference for the .NET class libraries from the Visual Studio toolbar, select Measurement Studio»NI Measurement Studio Help»NI Measurement Studio .NET Class Library»Reference to launch the help within the application or press F1.

- If you choose to view the Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 help online, the help viewer launches the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site, which does not include the NI Measurement Studio Help. To view the Measurement Studio help, select Start»All Programs»National Instruments»Measurement Studio 2010 for Visual Studio 2010»Measurement Studio Documentation.
- At page load time, Measurement Studio dynamically filters documentation based on the components or edition you have installed. If you copy and paste dynamically filtered help content into a text editor, such as Microsoft Word, you may see content that applies to components not installed on your machine.
