Virtualization is a broad term that refers to the abstraction of computer resources. A hypervisor, also known as a virtual machine monitor (VMM), is virtualization software that runs multiple OSes simultaneously on a single controller.
The NI Real-Time Hypervisor leverages real-time virtualization technology to run Windows and the LabVIEW Real-Time OS (NI ETS) simultaneously on a supported multi-core PXI or industrial controller. Both OSes run natively on separate CPUs using hardware-assisted Intel® Virtualization Technology (Intel® VT) to minimize CPU overhead.
Use your NI Real-Time Hypervisor system to develop and run LabVIEW and LabVIEW Real-Time applications simultaneously on a single controller. Refer to the National Instruments website for more information about virtualization.
