The LabVIEW Real-Time OS (NI ETS) and the NI Real-Time Hypervisor output messages to the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console. You can use the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console to view the following information:

  • The hostname, IP address, serial number, and system state of the RT target
  • The primary network interface used by the RT target
  • Error and warning messages

Viewing the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console

Complete the following steps to view the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console:

  1. Select Start»All Programs»National Instruments»NI Real-Time Hypervisor»NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console to launch the NI Real-Time Hypervisor Virtual Console.
  2. Use the View menu item or the View Console (and View Status) button to switch between views.
  3. The Status View displays basic RT target information that can help you identify and configure the RT target with NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and develop applications using LabVIEW. The Status View prints the following information:
    1. Hostname
    2. IP address
    3. Serial number
    4. System state
  4. The Console View displays NI ETS and NI Real-Time Hypervisor output messages.
    Tip  Deselect the Auto-scroll console checkbox in the Console View to allow free scrolling of the console window. Leaving the Auto-scroll console checkbox selected automatically scrolls the console window to the latest console output location.
  5. (Optional) Use MAX to restart the RT target so you can view RT console messages displayed at startup.
