The Stimulus Profile Editor is a development environment you use to create, modify, and execute tests, called stimulus profiles, and to log data from these tests. You also use the Stimulus Profile Editor to create and modify real-time sequences, which contain logic for specific tasks you want to accomplish. A real-time sequence cannot execute on its own and must be added to a stimulus profile in order to run. A stimulus profile executes on the host computer, while a real-time sequence executes on the target. In the Stimulus Profile Editor, you can start multiple concurrent stimulus profile executions. Each stimulus profile execution performs sequential execution of one or more real-time sequences.

Complete the following steps to create and run a stimulus profile.

  1. Add the Stimulus Profile Editor to the Tools menu.
  2. In the Workspace window, select Tools»Stimulus Profile Editor.
Note  The name of this menu item might differ depending on how you named it in the Tools Properties dialog box.
  3. Select New Stimulus Profile on the Start Page tab to create a new stimulus profile.
  4. Add steps from the Steps palette and sequences from the Sequences palette to the stimulus profile.
  5. On the Start Page tab, select New Real-Time Sequence to create a new real-time sequence file.
  6. Add statements from the Primitives palette and sequences from the Sequences palette to the real-time sequence.
  7. Save the real-time sequence.
  8. In the Stimulus Profile File window, add a step to call the real-time sequence you just created from the stimulus profile.
  9. Save the stimulus profile.
