Note If a server administrator has configured the NI InsightCM web application to require SSL, enter https:// and change the port number to 482, such as https://serverDNSHostname:482. |
When getting started with NI InsightCM Server, you can enter the name of one of a few built-in roles that the NI InsightCM web application provides. Ask a server administrator for the names of the built-in roles you can enter. These roles do not correspond to Windows accounts, and they do not require passwords unless you enable SSL.
If server administrators do not need to control access to the NI InsightCM web application, they can customize the permissions of the built-in roles to meet user needs. However, to require users to log into the NI InsightCM web application with their Windows usernames and passwords, administrators can map Windows Active Directory roles to the NI InsightCM web application permissions, and then disable these built-in roles. When this behavior is enabled, you must use your Windows network username and password to log into the NI InsightCM web application.
The specific pages, tabs, and menus you see depend on the permissions assigned to you. If you cannot see parts of the NI InsightCM web application you need to access, contact a system administrator to review the role to which your account belongs and the permissions assigned to the role.
For a list of the NI InsightCM web application features controlled by permissions, refer to the List of NI InsightCM Web Application Permissions.
